The Antioch East Women's Ministry, has been designed to provide an effective avenue for women to be ministered to and for women to minister in their various areas of calling. It has two priorities: To provide assistance in ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of women by becoming God's messenger. To provide avenues and opportunities for women to develop and be equipped to stand and overcome the daily adversaries women face in their homes, jobs and communities..

Local women help with Habitat home:
On the Saturday before Mother's Day, 45 women pounded nails and hung dry wall at a Habitat construction site in Stone Mountain in recognition of National Women Build Week. Groups from Antioch East Baptist Church and Building the Bond Amongst Sisters along with many individuals joined to help build the house, learning new skills, and sharing laughter and stories.

Senator Gloria Butler, Georgia State 55th District, joined the rest of the women in hanging drywall, painting the exterior siding, and cleaning brush on the property. Butler's district encompasses parts of central DekaIb County and southern Gwinnett County. Developed through the partnership between Lowe's and Habitat for Humanity, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing.

The event is an initiative of Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program, underwritten by Lowe's, which brings women from all walks of life together to learn construction skills and! Then use those skills to build simple, decent affordable houses.
